Grandma's House Day Care Centers, Inc.
Philosophy
Welcome to Grandma’s House! We have been using our hands-on, “learn
through play” philosophy since we began back in 1983 with my grandmother,
“Grandma” Weinkauf and my mother, Mrs. Ryan. We have evolved over the
years to continue meeting Department of Children and Families (DCF) group
licensing rules. In addition, we implement the high quality standards
of the National Association for the Education of Young
Children (NAEYC)
without adopting a commercial curriculum model. We trust in our
creative, well-educated teachers to develop their own unique lesson plans
which are based on NAEYC criteria and are designed to meet the individual
needs of each child. Your child’s “work” during their early childhood years is to play.
The skills come naturally when they are immersed in a play-rich environment
which our teachers work hard to create. It is our job to create
experiences to help them develop socially, emotionally, physically and
cognitively while feeling a part of a group. This way, when they head
off to school, they are ready to focus and participate.
I invite you to ask any teacher or Center Director about our hands-on
learning and the plans they create for your child. Our web site
outlines our program policies. Please let
your Center Director or me know if you ever have a question or concern.
We look forward to being a part of your family’s early childhood
experiences.
